Left alone with her family after her husband suffers from divers' disease and gets stuck in an underwater cave, Merel realises how a house full of memories is as important as her children. The house is more than just four walls; it is a place that is cherished like a family member in their lives. The house she initially wants to get rid of will put on a fight to continue to exist together with the family members.

Netherlands' Oscar entry at the previous Academy Awards, Narcosis is a subtle and impressive film about loss and mourning. The Hollywood Reporter describes director Martijn de Jong's debut feature as "its sensitive approach, eloquent visuals and superb casting mark the arrival of a talented filmmaker."
