Based on the film Earwig directed by Lucile Hadžihalilović, we considered it would be interesting to talk about why festival films are often described as “abstruse”. It is not always easy to describe a movie we watch, sometimes we think they elude us. These are the films that we talk about the most, that puzzle us the most, that open different doors for us as we talk. Can we always decipher movies with our minds? Is it possible to say that we actually force our thinking patterns when we try to describe a movie that we feel we don’t understand?
