Ayşe Polat's Kör Noktada / In the Blind Spot is a political thriller focusing on cold cases. A German documentary crew visits an elderly Kurdish woman in a village in northeast Turkey. The woman has been performing a ritual for twentyfive years, hoping her son will be found one day. The German team investigating disappearances under detention and human rights violations in the region quickly causes unrest among some people.
The three parts in Polat's film portray the same events from another character's perspective. Different characters, perspectives, and filming techniques (professional cameras, phone cameras or security cameras) in each section only work to make the main truth more obvious. Past crimes will never remain hidden in a blind spot unless confronted.
