Can Aytekin is a faculty member in the Painting Department of the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. The exhibition will be on display in the foyer of Vural Cinema throughout the festival.

In his works, Can Aytekin often explores how the problems of painting are addressed in various visual culture productions in everyday life. In line with this interest, the artist establishes connections with urban design, architecture, graphic design, and cinema, examining the intersecting areas between these productions and painting, and what is transferred to painting from these fields.

For ‘Last Program’, Aytekin takes inspiration from Metin Erksan’s 1965 black-and-white film Sevmek Zamanı (Time to Love), creating works including posters, cinema lanterns, lobby photos, and prints. The artist’s decision to approach Sevmek Zamanı in the context of poster painting stems from the fact that the film was not released when it was shot. Therefore, no poster was created for the film at the time. This absence prompted Aytekin to imagine what the poster for Sevmek Zamanı might have looked like if it had premiered in 1965, and how that poster might have been produced. He paints posters for the film, emulating the representational styles, colour usage, and printing techniques of the period.
