Premiering at the Rotterdam Film Festival this year, Sanki Her Şey Biraz Felaket / Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster employs a subtly humorous perspective to hone in on the sense of entrapment which is familiar to many living in Turkey lately. Unemployment, nepotism, perpetual malaise, the uncanny feeling of 'would it be better if we were different people', our incapability of establishing close relationships, our tendency to distort the truth based on concerns about identity and nationality, and so on... Two teenage girls sharing the same house and their two new boyfriends form an unusual quartet for Turkish cinema with the help of the circumstances and the environment. The score of the film also humorously refers to a 'music of everyday boredom'.
