As they prepare to get married, life is sweet for the young couple, Allison and Nathan. But an unexpected traffic accident turns the lives of the close-knit family upside down. Nathan's sister and brother-in-law die in the accident, while Allison survives with serious injuries. As the driver of the vehicle, Allison succumbs to guilt and shuts out Nathan. She soon becomes addicted to the opiates she was prescribed after her surgery. Seeking some relief from her grief, Allison joins group therapy sessions where she confides in Nathan's father Daniel. This incident turns out to be a second milestone that changes the lives of the families once again.
