Kadir, a street food vendor in Diyarbakır, lives a modest life with his wife and children. Yet he has long carried a dream he has never managed to fulfill: to fly. Discovering that it is possible with a paramotor, he begins to practice paragliding with the help of two friends. Those around him, however, fail to understand his desire and often disapprove. His fatherin-law, relatives, and friends make sly remarks and spread gossip. Though these do not deter Kadir, they cause a rift between him and his wife. To make matters worse, his amateur practice sessions in open fields are deemed a threat to the city’s airspace security and are stopped by the police.

In Flying Meatball Maker, it is not only Kadir who takes off from the ground. The naivete and hopefulness that the film’s story delivers will lift the spirits of the audience as well.
