Where should we start rethinking in order to transform our world? Philippe Descola, often described as the heir to renowned anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss, has dedicated his life to studying how humans shape their worlds. After years of fieldwork in the Amazon rainforest, Descola turned his focus to Europe and the question why modern humans have increasingly made the world uninhabitable. French director Eliza Levy’s film delves deeply into Descola’s ideas and examines an experiment conducted in Notre-Dame-des-Landes, France. In this unprecedented social experiment, Descola embarks on a journey to materialize his thoughts by establishing a dialogue with the non-humans around us.
Following the screening of this film, which attempts to develop a different perspective on the relationship between humans and their environment, director Reha Erdem will give a talk related to this topic.
