TALK: ON DAVID LYNCH

This year’s program includes screenings of David Lynch’s first and last films. Lynch’s work can never be mistaken for anyone else’s. Unlike other leading auteurs, he did not belong to a movement or fit easily into a genre. Though influenced by film noir classics such as Billy Wilder’s Sunset Boulevard, his work remained entirely unique. His films often appear timeless and strangely disconnected from any specific place or period, which makes them all the more unsettling and disquieting.

Hasan Cem Çal, Övgü Gökçe, Fatih Özgüven and Nermin Saatçioğlu will discuss this singular filmmaker and examine his cinema from different perspectives.
